Call for artists to create epaulette design
Peel Regional Paramedic Services to celebrate Black history with new uniform epaulette.
Peel Regional Paramedic Services invites Black artists and creatives to submit examples of their artwork and a working concept for the design of a shoulder epaulette that celebrates and honours Black History. The current budget for the project is up to $1,500 after taxes, which includes the artists fees. The project completion date is January 15, 2025.

About the project
This call is a single-stage competition. Submissions will be juried by a Celebrating Black History Working Group, including Black employee representatives in Peel Regional Paramedic Services (PRPS). Artists are welcomed to submit multiple concepts as part of their entry for review and selection.
The successful Black artist will be invited to collaborate with the Celebrating Black History Working Group to refine a selection of sample designs, which will be put forward to the broader PRPS workforce, particularly Black employees, to solicit critique, feedback, and select a final design. We anticipate approximately 5 hours of meeting collaboration time.
The selected design will be purchased from the artist and produced to be worn by PRPS employees by February 2025 in honour of Black History Month in 2025 and in subsequent years. This initiative and the successful design will be featured with a media release on the Peel Region website and promoted across the Peel paramedics social media channels.
This opportunity is open to Black artists currently residing in Ontario with preference being given to Peel Region residents or artists. We encourage Black artists to apply and will endeavour to accommodate applicants who require assistance. Peel Region is committed to providing accommodations upon request.
